San Rafael bank robbery suspect sought

Published Friday March 10

San Rafael police are searching for a man suspected of robbing the Westamerica Bank branch on Mitchell Blvd. on Fri morning.

Authorities were alerted at 9:39 in the morning by the bank’s silent alarm, remarked San Rafael police Lieutenant Alan Piombo.

Witnesses remarked the robber presented a note with demands, authorities said. He apparently did not have a weapon and fled on foot.

It was not immediately clear whether he escaped with cash, officials said.

Authorities were searching for a black man, age 25 to 35, with short black hair. He was reportedly wearing black-framed glasses, a white dress shirt with dark tie, a dark double-breasted pea coat, dark dress pants and black dress shoes.
